Agnivesh Agarwal, director at the Vedanta Group and son of industrialist Anil Agarwal, passed away at the age of 49 following a sudden cardiac arrest in the United States. Circumstances Surrounding His Death

According to family sources, Agnivesh Agarwal suffered a cardiac arrest after a skiing accident in the United States. He was receiving treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, and was reported to be recovering before his health deteriorated suddenly. His father, Anil Agarwal, confirmed the news in an emotional message, saying the family was devastated by the unexpected turn of events.

Education and Professional Journey

Born on June 3, 1976, in Patna, Agnivesh Agarwal received his schooling at Mayo College, Ajmer. Early in his career, he founded Fujairah Gold, a metals refinery in the United Arab Emirates, reflecting his early and sustained engagement with the global metals industry.

Leadership Roles Within Vedanta Group

Agnivesh Agarwal served as Chairman of Hindustan Zinc from 2005 to 2019, following the company’s acquisition by Vedanta from the government. From May 2019, he headed Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, which operates a thermal power plant in Punjab.

Through these positions, he played a key role in strengthening Vedanta’s footprint in metals, mining, and power generation, while advocating industrial self-reliance.
