Today’s latest news of Maharashtra relates to the Civic Election results (local body elections), which are currently being announced. It is also known as the “Mini Assembly Election” because it covers major cities of Maharashtra. The counting of the votes for all these cities began at 10:00 AM today (January 16, 2026). While early trends for cities like Mumbai and Pune are already showing clear leads, the final consolidated results for smaller corporations will likely be finalized by late tonight.
Presently, no result has been declared, and nothing can be said too early before the end of voting. The final list will be revealed around 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM. What is the result, and who will win this Civic Election
As per the reports, the counting is underway, and the results for individual wards are being declared one by one. The Mahayuti (BJP + Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena) has crossed the halfway mark required for a majority in Mumbai (BMC) and is maintaining a significant lead across the state.

In Mumbai, Tejaswi Ghosalkar (BJP) won from Ward 2.
Asha Kale (Congress) won from Ward 183 (Dharavi).
Jitendra Patel (BJP) won from Ward 10.
Milind Vaidya (Shiv Sena UBT) won from Ward 182.
