Amelia Kerr Created History in WPL: All details about her

Breaking news, Amelia Kerr has created history in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by becoming the bowler to cross the milestone of 50 wickets in the tournament’s history. She is a New Zealand cricketer, playing currently for the Mumbai Indians in WPL and won this achievement. She gained this achievement in the 10th match of the Women’s Premier League played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and UP Warriorz (UPW) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on 17 January 2026. Now, her name is running in the trends and many are curious to know more about her. 

As per the sources, Amelia Kerr reached the 50-wicket mark with a brilliant final over that effectively stalled the UP Warriorz’s momentum. She took 3 wickets for 28 runs in her 4 overs and she achieved this in just 34 matches of WPL, all played for the Mumbai Indians. It was the tenth match of WPL, played on 17 January 2026 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and UP Warriorz (UPW) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. She is the most expensive overseas player of the season who bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹3.20 crore.     Amelia entered the final over of the innings needing three wickets for the milestone. She struck on the first ball (Harleen Deol) and followed up with the wickets of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone to complete her “fiddy.” She had crossed the history and had taken a total of 51 Wickets. She was best in the 2025 season against UPW by achieving the 5/38.

    She become the youngest player to score an ODI double-century (232) in 2018 when she was only 18 years old and took 5 wickets played against Ireland. In the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, she was the  Player of the Tournament and Player of the Final, led New Zealand to their first-ever title. In India, she played for Mumbai Indians in WPL and won the WPL titles in 2023 and 2024. She is also the Purple Cap winner (leading wicket-taker) in the 2025 season. Now, reaching 50 wickets before any other player cements her legacy as the most successful bowler in the league’s young history.

She was born on 13 October 2000 at Wellington, New Zealand and presently, she is 25. She made her debut in ODI at the age of 16 and had gained a large number of fans through her performance. She is known as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket that was proven when she was brought by Mumbai Indian for a record ₹3.20 crore.
