When Did Yuan Weiren Pass Away?

According to Taiwanese news, Yuan Weiren took his last breath on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 57 years old. The cause of his death is not yet known, but our sources have gathered some information. Reportedly, his death came after a long and difficult eight-year struggle with serious health problems, which left him bedridden for the last years of his life. He suffered from a long-term illness and remained in a coma-like state for several years, although the exact cause is still unknown.

Long Health Struggle Before His Death

At the end of his life, Yuan spent his final days in his hometown of Taitung, Taiwan, where he was primarily cared for by his older sister and family members. His treatment was also aided by a “Little Fat Fund” set up by his music industry friends (such as Phil Chang and Eric Moo), which helped cover his mounting medical expenses.

2018 Brain Hemorrhage and Tumor Diagnosis

In 2018, Yuan suffered a severe brain hemorrhage while preparing for a show in Shanghai. During emergency surgery, doctors discovered a brain tumor. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, he remained in a coma for 62 days, and he eventually regained consciousness and returned to Taiwan for rehabilitation.

2020 Accident That Changed Everything

In 2020, Yuan faced another major problem while recovering at home. His sister stated he tried to get up from his wheelchair but fell and hit his head on the floor. Resulted in another coma, from which he never fully recovered, and he eventually slipped into the vegetative state that defined his final years.

Yuan Wei-jen was a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and record producer. Born on June 24, 1968, he rose to fame by writing several hit songs. He received numerous awards for his work in various categories. Famous songs he composed include “Bravery” and “One Night.” He also worked with the duo Yuan Wei Ren and Mo Fan (Fan Wei Qi).
